BARNAGAR COLLEGE

বৰনগৰ মহাবিদ্যালয়

From the Principal

It is my privilege to offer a warm welcome to all who desire to pursue their studies in this premier institution which has been recently re-accredited with “B” Grade by NAAC in Cycle-II (CGPA: 2.55) and situated in the western part of the Barpeta District having its hinterland in an inter-fluvial basin of Beki-Manas rivers flanking like sentinels in the east and west, while the N.F. Railway and the National Highway-31 touch its southern and northern fringes. A lush green plantation and agro landscape around provides an eco-friendly green environment to the location of this college.

Barnagar College was established on 3rd September, 1962 with a mission to maintain status of the college as one of the premier educational institutions in the State catering quality education, instilling moral and ethical values to a large number of students hailing from a vast area predominantly inhabited by socially and economically backward segments of the society. This institute of pioneering higher education is recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act on 21/02/1969. The College endeavours to prepare the learners to meet the challenges of changing times and vigorous competition since inception. The college is permanently affiliated to the Gauhati University, Assam.

Though the College started having a single faculty (Arts), yet it has introduced Commerce stream in 2011 and Science stream in 2017 along with Post Graduate Course in Political Science and Assamese. Apart from this, the College has been offering two certificate courses and nine six-month diploma courses in certain skill oriented areas.

The present infrastructure of the College comprises spacious classrooms along with a number of smart-classrooms, a big central library, hostel provisions for girls, canteen facilities, a large playground, a pavilion and indoor stadium and many more support services. With a dedicated and sincere brigade of teachers, it is our mission to provide quality education to our students. We have initiated the process of using ICT in the teaching-learning process to enable the students to reap the benefits of advancement of technology.

The success of any mission depends on the collective efforts, co-operation and concerted action of all the stakeholders. It is my earnest appeal to all to come forward and help us in achieving our goal. Let us join hands to make our College one of the best in this region to make the dream of the founding fathers a reality.
